a \u003cem\u003eground\u003c\/em\u003e connection on VGA. The VGA cables I’ve tested simply bridge together all the ground pins in the \u003cem\u003econnector housing\u003c\/em\u003e. This means that you will be shorting the Portable’s main 5v supply directly to ground, with predictably bad results.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI’ll say it again: DO NOT use VGA extender cables on the male plug
